Whenever we eat at a casual eatery, Ernie will always ask for All Gold – aka tomato sauce. And beware the waiter who brings anything other than actual All Gold Tomato Sauce. Or even worse: if the bottle arrives & it has been refilled with some other nasty red sauce.
Needless to say: All Gold is a staple in our home & has been since our childhoods.
The love for this tomato sauce runs so deep that my mother-in-law even invented a pizza recipe that her four kids & their friends would probably to this day still prefer over designer pizzas from an authentic Italian pizza place.
So with her permission, I’m sharing this epic easy pizza with you & all busy moms out there. Her advice is that if it takes longer than 10 minutes to construct this pizza, then you’re going through way too much trouble.
All Gold Five Ingredient Pizza, Serves about 6 – 8 (depending on their appetites)
1kg Bread / Pizza Dough (I got mine from Pick n Pay)
A large (700ml) bottle of All Gold Tomato Sauce
Dried mixed or Italian herbs
Ham / Pineapple / Mushrooms or all of these
4 – 6 Large Handfuls of Coarsely Grated Cheddar Cheese
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Take two oven pans & spray with a non-stick spray. Now divide your dough between the two pans. You’ll have to stretch it out & press it down to cover the entire pan.
Next you need about half a 700ml bottle of tomato sauce (per pizza) to cover the base. Use a wooden spoon to get this job done quickly.
Sprinkle with a generous amount of dried Italian or Mixed Herbs, followed by whatever you have in your home (tinned pineapple pieces, ham or slices of mushrooms). Sprinkle generously with cheddar cheese & pop in the oven.
Keep an eye on the pizza which should be done in about 20 minutes. Slice up in sqaures & enjoy!
This pizza is a real kid & crowd pleaser because the All Gold tomato sauce gives it a bit of a sweet taste. When I chatted to my mom-in-law about this recipe recently she chuckled & said that it is basically just bread with cheddar cheese!
I’m sure you’ll agree that it is super simple & yummy. Thank you for reading. I hope you’ll give it a try very very soon.
