What? The BIOEFFECT Cellular Facial Treatment with CEYA® (R620)

What makes it fabulous? The focus of this facial & of the BIOEFFECT serum is to activate your skin’s natural ability to renew, which makes it fantastic for ageing.

The serum is packed with growth factors. Think of them as little messengers in your body, working hard to make you younger. Certain growth factors – like EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) in the BIOEFFECT serum – gives collagen production a bit of a kick start.

The CEYA machine (used during the treatment) improves the penetration of the serum. This means less lines & wrinkles, as well as suppler, softer skin.

What to expect… A relaxed, comfortable treatment done with the Placecol range of products (really gentle on the skin) & the BIOEFFECT Serum (R1 585 at Placecol & selected Edgars outlets).

This hour long facial starts off with a double cleanse, followed by microdermabrasion (a powerful exfoliating treatment which feels a bit like sandpaper on the skin).. The CEYA® radio frequency machine uses heat & light to improve blood flow, increasing the supply of oxygen and nutrients while removing toxins more effectively.

This salon is for you, if you… don’t mind facing the entire Cresta after a treatment with your post-facial-no-make-up and deurmekaar hair. Personally I don’t enjoy having facials in malls, but luckily the Cresta salon in situated right at one of the entrances. So, if you’re quick you might be able to sneak out without anyone noticing.

What I didn’t enjoy… The music was slightly loud & not conducive (in my view) to a relaxed atmosphere. I really believe in first impressions, so unfortunately the lady who was at reception on the day was very introverted (or shy? or unfriendly?).

This treatment is for those who… battle with pigmentation or are looking for a pure anti-ageing remedy. However, best results will only be seen if you continue the use of the serum & have regular salon treatments, so it’s not for those on a tight budget.

The final verdict: My experience with Placecol has always been positive – and I can say this for all four salons (out of 150 nationwide) that I’ve been to. Even those in the remote little dorpies! The therapists are always professional, friendly and certainly come over as well trained.

My skin felt good after the treatment, but the BIOEFFECT serum (which is used every second day after the facial), turned out to be too potent for my skin & resulted in a slight break-out. But, I won’t say that it’s not worth its price. I’m getting a second opinion, so be on the look-out for a second review on the serum in a few weeks’ time.
