I am so happy that we live in the era of dishwashers, Internet, Über, iPhones & sliced bread. As women & consumers today we have convenience at our fingertips. We’re spoilt for choice – especially when it comes to beauty.
But what if all of these options are leaving you feeling overwhelmed? No worries. I’m about to share the products that I’ve had on rotation for the last few weeks & months. Some were purchases, others landed on my desk. Some are fab newbies & others are old, trusted friends.
Here is my line-up of products that will make your winter more beautiful & colourful. I’ve got everything here from affordable little eye shadows to drinkable collagen. Enjoy!
Halt the winter blues with these blue & turquoise wonders:
The Eylure No 101 false lashes (R54.95 from Clicks) are full, shorter length lashes that really open up the eyes. It is lightweight, reusable & comes with its own adhesive.
My Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser (R42.99, 400ml) is a real life saver during winter months. It contains almond oil for a jolt of moisture.
Sunscreen is non-negotiable. Yup, even in winter. So, don’t forget your Lipidol Sunscreen Oil SPF 20 (R90.95, 125ml) when you are out & about. It provides UVA & UVB protection & is a great supplement for your skin’s oily layer.
I am never ever without my Dove roll on & aerosol. I find that it is really the only brand that keeps me smelling fresh for hours & hours. I would strongly recommend you try the Dove Original Anti-Perspirant Aerosol (R31.99 for 150ml).
Mandy’s Hair Removal Cream is super easy to use & great value at less than R35 for 50ml. Made with rose hip oil to beautifully fragrance skin. Ideal for use all over the body.
Last week my chin was having a serious pimple party, so I reached for my Pond’s Spot Remover Facial Foam (R34.99 for 50g). I used it for about four days & I can honestly report an 80% improvement! Love.
An innovative little winner from Blistex is the Ultra-Rich Hydration lip balm (priced at around R85) with SPF 15. With its signature blue core of luxurious moisturisers like shea & cocoa butter, olive oil & jojoba, & white outer layer fortified with wheat germ oil, beeswax & ceresin you will, for once, have a winter with smooth conditioned lips.
Filorga Optim-Eyes Lotion Eye Makeup Remover Serum (R450 for 100ml) is the very first triple-phase eye makeup remover that combines waterproof-makeup cleansing efficacy with the benefits of serum. It removes even the toughest waterproof makeup without rubbing.
Always pretty with pinks…
The Catrice Light & Shadow Contouring Blush (R79.95) is an ultra-soft powder (available in three colours). Each has a velvety-matt, darker shade & a light, softly shimmering highlighter colour. Featured here: 030 Rose Propose.
The L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau de Toilette is a must-have for all peony fans. It is a soft floral scent that captures the fleeting moment when the peony is no longer a bud, but not yet a flower. Green notes leave room to a soft floral scent of sandalwood & white musk. The 75ml EDT costs R890, but please note that the one photographed here is a tiny 5ml sample…
The combination of pomegranate, rooibos & cranberry oil in the Sorbet Firming Body Butter makes it smell delicious enough to eat! I love the 50ml size (R 27.95 from Sorbet & Clicks), as it is a perfect handbag or travel size.
Catrice Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara 24h (around R79.95) is a very affordable everyday mascara for volume. Available in Black Waterproof & Black.
Hooray for the gorgeous shine & hydrating feel that you get from AVON’s Mark Glossy Tube Lip Gloss (R109.90). I am really enjoying the Shineberry shade at the moment.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The Essence Glow & Care luminous nail polish really only costs R39.95. I tried the Go For Glow shade which is a perfect light shade for everyday wear. Tip: expect a rather thick polish, so rather stick with a single layer (plus base & top coat).
Add punch with some purple:
I still love my Dermalogica AGE-Smart Antioxidant Hydramist (R210, 30ml) which can be spritzed directly onto your face after cleansing. I love using it as a refreshing mist over my make-up anytime of the day or evening.
Another little winner from Essence is their new DIY eyeshadow palette & refills. Simply buy four individual colours (from around R35.95) & then pop into the empty 4-colour palette (R34.95). Eyeshadow colours featured here are Black As A Berry & Raspberry Frosting.
Top tip: always keep a good cuticle oil or cream next to your bed & on your desk like the L.A Girl Cuticle Oil (R35.95). Bye-bye rough cuticles.
Get glam, smooth & shiny lips in an instant with the Essence Shine Shine Shine lipgloss (R44.95). My personal favourite: the dark purple Runway, Your Way shade.
AVON has a large range of colours. A current favourite is the AVON TRUE Colour Nailwear Pro+ in Orchid Splash (which is sadly a limited edition). R109.90 for 10ml.
There you have it – a colourful collection of the most gorgeous products that I am loving at the moment.
