Oliver baby boy room was super cute. (It was even featured in Your Baby magazine!) Before his birth, I specifically chose the colours & elements for the nursery so that they were not only for a baby & would ‘grow up’ with him. But two moves & five years later, his room is sort of a throw-together of mismatched items. So with his 6th birthday coming up soon, I’ve decided that a room make-over is in order.
I’m planning a fairly simple & minimalist room make-over for this little LEGO-fan. And the theme? You guessed it: LEGO!
A LEGO theme can get quite busy & cluttered, so without going overboard, I want to keep his room (which is super small) as minimalistic as possible by using black & white with some pops of primary colours. My main inspiration came from Classy Clutter who created a similar room (as you can see in the two pictures below).
Black & white bedding for little boys is not so easy to come by in South Africa, so I’ve narrowed it down to this wave bedding from Simply Child, the Stargazer duvet set or the messy dotted duvet from Clever Little Monkey.
I’m also really keen to introduce bits of Plascon’s industrial-style Urban colours from their 2019 Colour Forecast. I love Pristine Blue (B4-A1-1), Golf Greens (G4-A1-1) & Red Flame (R7-A1-1).
This Letter D (via) is the inspiration for a word or phrase that I’d like to create for him with LEGO.
The room won’t be complete without some LEGO prints from Etsy, a LEGO storage head & new paint for the bookcase.
The space is carpeted with a dull brownish carpet, so I’d like to add a rug that compliments the theme. The following rugs from Superbalist are on my radar: the Piastrelle printed rug, the grey Chehalis Rug & jagged black stripe rug.
We will keep all of his furniture & add two mini Eames inspired chairs & table from Esque so that he has his own area to sit & write, build puzzles & play.
What do you think? Do you love this inspiration as much as I do? I can’t wait for this project to come together & share the end result with you.
Thanx for visiting.
