Welcome to my brand new, fresh home office. I am over the moon to share this space with you today.
I realize that having a little space of one’s own is a huge privilege. I’ve been working from home for the last eight years and wasn’t always lucky enough to have a dedicated work area. During my work-from-home-life so far, I have created four office spaces – in our Illovo apartment (scroll down to the very last image on this post) in our George home & in our last Joburg place. One thing is for sure: I need a dedicated space.
I try my best to declutter & be paperless, but the reality of my life & job is that I get packages, I do some crafty things & take pictures. I also have snacks, tea cups & sourced items in shopping bags in my work area. The times that I huddled at the dining room table with all my stuff, created quite a bit of stress for me & for the rest of our family. It was too noisy & I felt guilty for invading the communal family space. It was not a very inspiring room which made me less productive. The real issue with working at the dining room table: the kitchen is only a few meters away which meant I was snacking all the time!
And so, when we moved into our current Johannesburg home in October 2020, I was delighted that I could claim the ‘spare room’ space for myself.
Sadly, I didn’t take a picture of the ‘before’. Basically, it was a very blue baby boy room.
As we were settling in, the entire room got two coats of calm light grey paint which means that – 5 months on – it still looks fresh & fabulous.
Source list: Plants, Pots, Laptop Stand, Shelves, Pencil Holder, Desk Lamp / Builders, Desk / Micke desk from IKEA – ordered online from Home Swede Home, Wire grid / Chinese store, Trolley / Vintage upcycled with chalk paint & wheels from Gelmar, Lockers / Makro, Book Case / Old one from Lotters Pine upcycled with chalk paint, Faux Fur (mini rug) / Builders
Since the pictures were taken, we decided to move a bed into the room so it’s already looking a bit different. Haha. Never a dull moment around here.
Thanx for visiting.
Yolandi ♥

I love this space! I really need to organise my workspace a bit more and this provides ample inspiration.
Thanx Lana. Yes, a beautiful workspace is great for productivity & inspiration. To be fair, this space doesn’t always look so styled & perfect. 🙂
