My dear friend & Cape Town local, Christelle, was my ‘Dash Date’. We were both equally excited when the invite arrived for me to review DASH & from the moment we arrived the attention to detail was apparent. Our first stop: the terrace to enjoy the last bit of sunlight, the views of Table Mountain & The V&A Waterfront.

The barman then shook up a secret cocktail (Peach & Rose Martini) to tingle our tastebuds. Delicious!

Once seated, Christelle (being an architect with an eye for these things) noticed how the lighting creates the perfect intimate setting, but with a comfortable level of brightness & no glare. The food & wine pairing was very well done, the service tip-top & hostess Irene (so friendly & knowledgebale) was the cherry on top!

As we were seated inside, a little treat from chef arrived; goats cheese with crushed hazelnuts, berry smoothie & orange gel. An explosion of tastes! Then followed freshly baked bread & pesto butter.

Christelle chose the Asparagus, olive toast, nut crush & parmesan snow as a started; while I had the double baked gorgonzola soufflé, biltong shavings & hazelnuts (which was the winner of the two).

The fluffy souffle.
The amazingly fluffy soufflé – a highlight on the starter menu.

Then came the tricky task of choosing our three  courses…. So many options. Eventually I decided on the salmon & Christelle went for the grilled fillet. Luckily Irene recommended wines that go well with each course, because the choices of wines were also overwhelming. Sadly the salmon was ever so slightly dry, but the fillet blew our socks off.

Our deserts were equally yummy! A hot chocolate fondant (with a heavenly, warm, gooye centre!) with orange ice cream & bitter sugar brittle. And the light & fluffy coconut panacotta with lime sorbet & passion fruit coulis. To die for!

As if we did not have enough to eat by then, out came some hand-made Turkish delight & marshmallows that melted in the mouth.

A coffee would’ve been nice but we literally had overdone it! It was time to call our Uber again…

The dining experience at DASH is highly recommended – with only 36 seats, it is rather special.  The walls boast some remarkable artwork, kindly loaned by the restaurant’s prestigious gallery neighbour, Everard Read.

Expect to pay an average of R100 per starter, R200 for a main & R80 per dessert. It might be a bit steep for the locals (thanx to the exchange rate…*sulking voice*), but so so worth it!

Cheers

Yolandi ♥

Ps. Thank you to the Queen Victoria for hosting us at Dash & for the darling Elize at Wired Communications for arranging.

Pss. This DASH has nothing to do with the Kardashians – just in case you were wondering.
