Need a starter with a wow factor? Look no further than this little recipe.
You can play around with the filling a bit by adding chopped walnuts or grated parmesan cheese to the mix. Or you can sprinkle your final dish with toasted pine nuts.
Whatever you do, make these before the fig season is over! It’s deliciously rich & flavourful so you only need about one or two figs per person.
Stuffed figs with Mozzarella & Parma Ham
The sweetness of the fresh figs complements the savoury of the parma ham & cheese
Ingredients
- 1 Punnet Fresh Figs 6-8 figs in total
- 6-8 Slices Parma Ham
- 1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese grated
- 1-2 Cloves Garlic Minced
- Freshly ground salt & black pepper
- Olive Oil
- Rocket Leaves
Instructions
- Pre-heat your oven to 180°C.
- Mix your cheese with thegarlic, salt & pepper. Trim the stalk from the top of the fig & maketwo cuts across the fig.
- Push the bottom of the figs very gently so that itopens at the top. Now gently push the cheese & garlic mixture into the figs.
- Tightly wrap a piece of Parma ham around each fig & then drizzle withsome olive oil. If you feel like the figs are falling apart, secure the hamwith a toothpick.
- Pop into the oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the ham & figs are a bit golden & warm throughout.
- Serve on a bed of rocket leaves drizzled with olive oil.Season to taste & serve. So good!
Notes
This recipe serves 4-6, so please add as many figs as you like.
