I will admit that all the Northern hemisphere travel stories & pictures on social media at the moment are turning me into a bit of a travel hater. Yikes. I said it.

But down here at the southernmost tip of Africa, we are hibernating. And I actually enjoy it because winter is a great time for pampering & to take special care of your hair & body. I tried out some new Shampoo & Conditioners. Literally all three of these Shampoo & Conditioner duo’s smell absolutely amazing.

Here are the contenders – I love them all. Here’s what you can expect from each:

OWAY Frequent Use Hair & Scalp Bath & Conditioner available at Sorbet Dry Bars

OWay (Organic Way) is an Italian agricosmetic, professional brand with biodynamic, organic & fair-trade ingredients. Founded on stringent & ethical production principles, the 100 percent high-quality formulas in the range have been designed to transform hair in the purest & natural yet effective way possible. OWay is the first hair & scalp treatment line to use essential oils & pure micronized plants from biodynamic farming – which is a step ahead of organic practices as the holistic approach to harvesting ingredients results in zero chemical use, maintains soil fertility & focuses on a harmonic relationship between people, plants & animals.

OWay inspires an authentic, transparent lifestyle, with attention to detail & respect for the environment.

OWay Frequent Use Hair & Scalp Bath (R355, 240ml); OWay Frequent Use Conditioner (R375, 240ml).

Verdict: I absolutely love the amber glass packaging & that it is 100% recyclable. Personally I prefer plastic containers in the bathroom that we share with a little guy who tends to knock things over. The delightfully fresh smell is pure olive oil & lemon.

Davines MOMO Shampoo & Conditioner from Carlton hair salons countrywide

I’m a big fan of the Davines brand & have used many different products in this cult Italian haircare line. The Davines philosophy of creating a good life for all through beauty, ethics & sustainability also really resonates with me. They use eco-friendly packaging, ethical production methods & natural ingredients in all their products.

This MOMO combo contains yellow / canary / Cartucciaru melon – with extremely hydrating Vitamin A & C, potassium, phosphorus & zinc. And it smells so so amazing. I colour my hair often & use heat on it very often, so the MOMO lightweight gel-shampoo (R300, 250ml) & conditioner (R330, 250ml) are really worth the cost for me.

Verdict: The yellow melon extract fragrance is amazing & unlike anything that I’ve ever smelt before. I’ve used many different Davines products & this one is really my favourite to date.  It makes my hair feel shiny & soft without weighing it down. You will also use very little of the product at a time, so it will last about three months.

The Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair Intense Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner (R52,99 each from Clicks)

Schwartzkopf needs no introduction. We all grew up with this brand & it is still a fabulous product range. Liquid keratin & OmegaPlex are the two prize ingredients in the Gliss Hair Repair Intense Therapy range. Your hair should break less as the OmegaPlex is said to repair broken bands in the hair fibers. Perfect for chemically treated hair.

Verdict: This is a really great supermarket combo. I love the smell & I was rather surprised with how much volume my hair still had after weeks of using the Gliss Intense Therapy. The containers are rather big (Conditioner – 200ml; Shampoo – 250ml) so it is great value for money at R52,99 each.

Have you tried any new hair products lately? I’d love to hear.

Yolandi ♥

  1. Nice post. I have always liked the Schwartzkopf products — excellent value for money. But those amber bottles…. mmm, will have to try Oway at least once 😉
