With Spring around the corner, it is time to not only start thinking about your summer wardrobe & body, but also about summer-ready hair! If you are stuck for ideas, then look no further. I’ve picked the brain of David Gillson, director & master stylist at Carlton hair (Constantia, Hyde Park & Melrose Arch) who shared FOUR FAB HAIR TRENDS for SPRING & SUMMER 2015 / 2016.
As you’ll see in just a moment, these trends are all equally fun & I’m sure you will find something here that will tickle your fancy.
TREND 1: #GENDERNEUTRAL
Runways with transgender models, magazines & general trends & happenings worldwide are all pointing towards this trend. Even UK store Selfridges has jumped on the band wagon with a gender neutral shopping section. Think androgyny. Masculine & feminine characteristics. Unisex without the sex. Also known as ‘agender’, this craze is way more subtle than ‘women in suits and men in dresses’. Masculine upstyles for women, longer hair for men or short edgy styles for women are all on par. Make sure you pair this type of hairstyle with bold brows. A good volumising mousse, hair oil for styling & a strong hold wax or gel will help you achieve this look.

TREND 2: #SUGARPOP
In the mood for some colour anyone? This one is a totally fun affair with shades of orange, mint green, sugar pink, violet grey & light aqua as recently seen on the runways of Chanel to Dior. Shampoo & conditioner for colour treated hair are must haves if you are going for colour.
Celebs sporting this look: Kylie Jenner, Tamara Dey & Korean model, Soo Joo Park.
TREND 3: #SWEETROMANCE
The sweet romance theme is very much un-styled & almost a backlash against the very styled look of the Kardashians. Think beachy hair. Haute hippy glam with long waved crimped hair. Maxi dresses, caftans & lots of ethnic accessories to show off long, waved, crimped & braided hair. Have a sea salt spray on hand to get the look.

TREND 4: #PRISSYPRIM
This ladylike school girl trend is all about modest, shy elegance which replaces the overtly sexy look. Think hair accessories like bows seen on the Chanel runway. The baby beehive (as seen in the Prada campaign) gives a look of demure elegance. Hairspray is your friend with this trend.
Celebs sporting this look: Taylor Swift & Sashi Naidoo
So, do you like these looks & is there a specific one that you are keen to try?
Have a happy hair day!
