I love the Cuppa 4 Cansa* campaign. Maybe because it’s an excuse to have a party AND do something worthwhile at the same time?
I’m so grateful that my inner-inner circle has not been affected by breast cancer, but I know many women who have & I really believe that this is a cause worth supporting. So, on Saturday, the 25th, I hosted my third annual Cuppa 4 Cansa*. After a few unfortunate events recently (a hi-jacking & craziest cold ever), I almost didn’t get round to doing it this year, but I’m so happy did.
It’s so easy to host a Cuppa. This is how I did it:
I invited all the lovely ladies & girls in my life who I thought would enjoy something like this.
The only obligation that the invitees had was to come & enjoy some tea, snacks & some chitter-chatter – easy as pie. My theme for this year: “black & white with a pop of colour”, so the ladies also dressed in these colours (hats & heels optional, but highly recommended).
The only thing that is never optional is (the donation of) a cash note(s) for Cansa. [And I’m always so surprised at how generous people are. Thanx for your donations, friends.]
And the menu*? (This is the most exciting part.)
To start, some home-brewed Rooibos & Berry Iced Tea, Jozi water, various teas & coffees.
Then the yummy sweet treats (including decadent cupcakes from Belle’s Patisserie)…. And savoury snacks – of which the trout & crème fraiche pancake stack was my favourite. I also made a quick sweet / savoury treat of mini black & white parcels of popcorn mixed with Smarties (yup – that’s the POP of COLOUR right there.).
3 Things stood out for me this year at this year’s event:
- Women (especially moms) are so excited to get dressed up & spend a bit of time chatting away with the girls! Some even admit that they feel guilty for being so excited about leaving the family behind. (The invite stated: “no mobile littlies” – ie kiddies who can walk or are under seven)
- Women will almost always put others before themselves (case in point: the ladies who couldn’t make it at the last minute were those who had to look after sick kiddos or family members). And that’s why we need as much pampering as we can get.
- We shouldn’t underestimate the importance of helping, celebrating, loving & supporting one another as women. And we should NEVER stop having tea parties!!!
Can’t wait for Cuppa 2015

Thanks to Yolandi for hosting this wonderfull event at her home in Jozi. It is such a good cause to support. It was my second year that I went to this cuppa4cansa and everything was so perfect and well prepared. Thanks for making this possible. It is so so special to put time aside to sit and relax and have some tea, snacks and chitter-chat! It is such an honour to be part of supporting Cansa and to have a little get together was even more special. As always the venue, theme and snacks were perfectly planned and well prepared. Looking forward to the next cuppa4cansa! Well done Yolandi and thanks to everyone who contributed to make this day possible. Love Karin
